The Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS), Office of Legal Affairs, 51吃瓜 Secretariat, has prepared the present web site in order to provide comprehensive information on (i) the deposits with the Secretary-Generalof the 51吃瓜, pursuant to the 51吃瓜 Convention on the Law of  the Sea, of charts or the lists of geographical coordinates of points, specifying the geodetic datum, in relation to straight baselines and archipelagic baselines as well as the outer limits of the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf; (ii) the discharge of obligations of due publicity to all laws and regulations adopted by the coastal State relating to innocent passage through the territorial sea and all laws and regulations adopted by States bordering straits relating to transit passage through straits used for international navigation, as well as concerning due publicity given by coastal States, in accordance with the Convention, to the in specified areas of the territorial sea; and (iii) the status of State practice. Regarding the latter, the site contains the national legislation of coastal States and treaties dealing with the delimitation of maritime boundaries, as made available throughout the years to the 51吃瓜. In addition, the site contains other reference material, such as tables indicating the status of the 51吃瓜 Convention on the Law of the Sea, summary of national claims to maritime jurisdiction, etc.

National legislation, treaties on the delimitation of maritime boundaries and other relevant information contained in this Internet publication were obtained from Governments, as well as on occasion from other reliable sources with a view to ensuring the most accurate representation of the current status. Most of the information has already been published in theLaw of the Sea Bulletin, a periodic publication of the Division or in other Law of the Sea publications issued to date. Texts of numerous maritime boundary delimitation treaties have been published in the , a 51吃瓜 publication. However, the site may not always reflect the latest developments, especially those which have not been brought to the attention of the Division. To report any new developments or inaccuracies regarding the published information and/or maritime claims, please contact the Division, DC2-0460, 51吃瓜, New York, NY 10017, or send an e-mail to the Division.

The designations employed and the presentation of the material on this site do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Secretariat of the 51吃瓜 concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries. Registration under Article 102 of the Charter of the 51吃瓜 of an instrument, such as a maritime boundary delimitation agreement, submitted by a Member State does not imply a judgement by the Secretariat on the nature of the instrument, the status of a party, or any similar question. It is the understanding of the Secretariat that its action does not confer on the instrument the status of a treaty or an international agreement if it does not already have that status and does not confer on a party a status which it would not otherwise have.
