On 28 April 2009, the Republic of Ghana submitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, in accordance with Article 76, paragraph 8, of the 51³Ô¹Ï Convention on the Law of the Sea, information on the limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured.

It is noted that the Convention entered into force for Ghana on 16 November 1994.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the 51³Ô¹Ï, as well as States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the executive summary of the submission, including all charts and coordinates contained in that summary.

The consideration of the submission made by Ghana will be included in the provisional agenda of the twenty-fourth session of the Commission to be held in New York from 10 August to 11 September 2009.

Upon completion of the consideration of the submission, the Commission will make recommendations pursuant to Article 76 of the Convention.

Revised Executive Summary

On 12 September 2013, Ghana transmitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, through the Secretary-General, a revised executive summary of the submission made by Ghana. It is recalled that that submission was made, pursuant to article 76, paragraph 8, of the Convention, on 28 April 2009. In the course of the consideration of its submission, Ghana provided additional data and information to the Subcommission in June 2013 defining two new outer limit points at the western edge of Ghana´s Eastern Extended Continental Shelf Region. Therefore, the Government of Ghana prepared this Revised Executive Summary reflecting the changes in the outer limits of Ghana´s continental shelf beyond 200 M as established by Ghana.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, as well as the decision of the Commission taken at its sixteenth session (), a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the 51³Ô¹Ï and parties to the Convention, in order to make public the revised executive summary of the submission, including all charts and coordinates contained therein.
