On 6 May 2009, the Republic of Mauritius submitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, in accordance with Article 76, paragraph 8, of the 51³Ô¹Ï Convention on the Law of the Sea, information on the limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured in the region of Rodrigues Island.

It is noted that the Convention entered into force for Mauritius on 4 December 1994.

According to the submitting State, this is a partial submission.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the 51³Ô¹Ï, as well as States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the executive summary of the partial submission, including all charts and coordinates contained in that summary.

The consideration of the partial submission made by Mauritius will be included in the provisional agenda of the twenty-fourth session of the Commission to be held in New York from 10 August to 11 September 2009.

Upon completion of the consideration of the submission, the Commission will make recommendations pursuant to Article 76 of the Convention.

Revised Executive Summary

On 8 October 2015, Mauritius transmitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, through the Secretary-General, a revised executive summary of the partial submission made in the region of Rodrigues Island.

In accordance with the rules of procedure of the Commission, as well as the decision of the Commission taken at its sixteenth session (), a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the 51³Ô¹Ï and States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the revised executive summary of the submission, including all charts and coordinates contained therein.

Amendment to the Submission

On 3 March 2020, Mauritius transmitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, through the Secretary-General, an amendment to its partial submission made in the region of Rodrigues Island, which according to the coastal State replaces the data and information previously submitted for this region in their entirety.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, as well as the decision of the Commission taken at its sixteenth session (CLCS/48, paragraphs 18 and 19), a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the 51³Ô¹Ï and parties to the Convention, in order to make public the amended executive summary of the submission, including all charts and coordinates contained therein.

Amended executive summary of the amended partial submission

On 5 July 2024, Mauritius transmitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, through the Secretary-General, an amended executive summary of the amended partial submission made in the region of Rodrigues Island.
