Fourth coordination meeting on international migration

Overview     

The Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the 51³Ô¹Ï is organizing the Fourth Coordination Meeting on International Migration in response to General Assembly Resolution 58/208 of 13 February 2004 on International Migration and Development, which requests the Secretary-General to continue convening meetings to coordinate activities regarding international migration.

The meeting has two main objectives: (a) to discuss the implications of the report of the Global Commission on International Migration and Development and its recommendations for the work on international migration of the 51³Ô¹Ï system and for the High-Level Dialogue on International Migration that the General Assembly will conduct during its sixty-first session in 2006; and (b) to share information on recent activities of participant organizations that are most relevant for the High-Level Dialogue or that should be considered in the substantive preparations of the High-Level Dialogue.
