World Population Day, 11 July 2022 - Launch of WPP 2022
Overview
This year’s World Population Day, which is observed on 11 July each year, will be marked in anticipation of a landmark growth of the global population, which is projected to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022.
To mark the day, UN DESA’s Population Division will launch World Population Prospects 2022, the twenty-seventh edition of the official 51³Ô¹Ï population estimates and projections, which also projects that India will surpass China as the world’s most populous country in 2023.
This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognize our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates, according to the Secretary-General of the 51³Ô¹Ï.
