The Road to a Lasting Peace (to mark the International Day of UN Peacekeepers)

Within the framework of the International Day of 51³Ô¹Ï Peacekeepers, , a UNAI member institution in the United Kingdom serving as our Hub for Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, is organizing an event entitled?The road to a lasting peace: Leveraging the power of youth for peace and security,?with talks from leading experts from around the world.?

This year the challenges and threats faced by UN Peacekeepers are even greater than ever. Like people around the world, they are having to cope not only with the?COVID-19?pandemic but also the continued requirement to support and protect others in the countries in which they are based.

1st International Academic Conference on the Sustainable Development Goals

, a UNAI member institution in the United States, is organizing its first international conference on the , as part of the Decade of Action.

The conference "Why It Matters" will take place at?the university campus 5 -7 October 2022. The Call for Papers is open until 1 November 2021. The university is inviting individuals to submit a proposal for a paper, poster and/or oral presentation related to "Why It Matters,"?in relation to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.?

UNESCO Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination (22 March 2021)

As a response to the recent manifestations of the upsurge in racial discrimination, including racial violence, and in line with the Global Call against Racism adopted at the 210th session of the UNESCO Executive Board, UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Programme is organizing a multi-stakeholder Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination on 22 March 2021.

The event will include many high-level speakers including?Martin Luther King III, Kailash Satyarthi, Mayor Ada Colau, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and Forest Whitaker.?

Open Call to join the SSR Advisory Network to the 51³Ô¹Ï

The 51³Ô¹Ï Inter-Agency Security Sector Reform Task Force is pleased to invite experts on Security Sector Reform (SSR) and on closely related fields to express interest in participating in the ¡°SSR Advisory Network to the 51³Ô¹Ï¡±.

SSR experts from the following categories are encouraged to apply:

ECOSOC Youth Forum 2021 ¨C Commemorating its 10th Anniversary

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum will be held on 7 and 8 April 2021.?The Forum provides a global platform for a candid dialogue among Member States and young leaders from around the world on solutions to challenges affecting youth wellbeing. It also serves as a unique space for young people to share their vision and actions as well as to provide youth perspectives on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

IAU - UNODC Joint Call for Papers for Young Researchers Working on Issues Related to SDG 16

The International Association of Universities (IAU) and the 51³Ô¹Ï Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are delighted to announce the launch of the?IAU ¨C E4J Paper Competition for Young Researchers: Higher Education engages with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,?within the framework of the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative. 2021 Commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

2021 Theme: ¡°Ending Slavery¡¯s Legacy of Racism: A Global Imperative for Justice¡±

The theme reflects the global movement to end injustices whose roots lie in the slave trade. The theme highlights the importance of educating about the history of the transatlantic slave trade and slavery, to bring about an acknowledgment of slavery¡¯s impact on the modern world, and action to address its long-lasting effects. The theme guides the Programme¡¯s development of educational outreach and remembrance to mobilize action against prejudice, racism and injustice.

Call for Articles: E-Book ¡°Students' Views - Human Rights to Education in Times of COVID-19 and other Crises"

The , a UNAI member institution in Germany, is partnering with other academic entities within the framework of the "Human Right to Education" initiative, launched a call for articles addressed to college students who would like to contribute with an e-Book entitled "Students' Views - Human Rights to Education in Times of COVID-19 and other Crises¡±.

This project aims at taking a step to become a shared voice on a global scale with a focus on the following topics:

1. Ideas and suggestions on the Extension of the Human Right to Education

2. Student protagonism and social movements

3. Colonialism, International policy, Economy, Independence

4. National education policies and current education reforms

5. Teacher training and Human Rights

Food Systems Summit 2021: Independent Dialogues Launch

In 2021, UN Secretary-General Anto?nio Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Summit will launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, each of which relies to some degree on healthier, more sustainable and equitable food systems.

The Summit will educate and inspire the world to work together to transform the way the world produces, consumes and thinks about food. It is a summit for everyone everywhere ¨C a people¡¯s summit. It is also a solutions summit that will require everyone to take action to transform the world¡¯s food systems.
