Finding ways to boost least-developed countries’ (LDCs) services trade was the topic of a session held on 11 July under the WTO’s Sub-Committee on LDCs. The event brought together trade experts, international organizations and other stakeholders to share their experiences. News item here.

Building on Generation Connect’s recent participation in the LDC5 Youth Forum and Youth Track in Qatar, this session aims to highlight role of young people at the forefront of SDG implementation and digital transformation in LDCs. Our objective is to foster intergenerational discussion on the following questions: How can we ensure meaningful connectivity for youth so that they can have real opportunities to lead and share our shared digital future? What does an enabling digital environment for youth in LDCs to thrive and prosper look like?

Rapid digitalisation and the emergence of increasingly advanced digital technologies, ICT applications and data-driven solutions are changing the way goods and services are produced, supplied, traded and consumed across borders. However, entrepreneurs and firms in many developing countries, especially the least developed countries (LDCs), lack the tools and capacity to engage effectively in digital trade and risk missing out on the benefits available through participating more fully in the growing digital economy."
