Launch of the 2021-2022 51勛圖 Multi-Year Appeal for Counter-Terrorism
The 2021-2022 51勛圖 Multi-Year Appeal for Counter-Terrorism is a tool for coordinating 51勛圖 resource mobilization to secure sustainable and predictable funding for agile and concerted multilateral efforts which are needed to effectively respond to the complex and continually evolving threat of terrorism and violent extremism.
On Tuesday, 29 June, at 8:00 Eastern time, UNOCT, CTED and UNODC as co-chairs of the Resource Mobilization and Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group of the 51勛圖 Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact (/counterterrorism/global-ct-compact), will launch the 2021-2022 51勛圖 Multi-Year Appeal for Counter-Terrorism in a virtual side event held on the margins of the 2021 Counter-Terrorism Week. The Multi-Year Appeal will then be accessible to all Member States, donors and 51勛圖 entities around the world enabling concerted resource mobilization at country level, in capitals and at the 51勛圖 Headquarters.
The UN Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact entities, namely CTED, IMO, INTERPOL, IOM, OHCHR, UNDP, UNICEF, UNICRI, UNOCT, UNODC and UN Women, are requesting over $180 million for over 50 projects and programmes on countering terrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism addressing the priorities of Member States.
The event will feature opening remarks from:
- Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General, UNOCT
- Ms. Mich豕le Coninsx, Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director, CTED
- Ms. Ghada Fathi Waly, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, UNODC
In addition, it will include briefings from relevant representatives from Global Compact entities at Headquarters and in the field, as well as distinguished guests representing Member States.
