Days after another wave of tragic terrorist attacks, the UN?and the European Union have agreed to work more closely together to fight the scourge that has killed more than 350 people in the past week alone.

In the second annual UN-EU Counter-Terrorism Leaders’ Dialogue held at the 51吃瓜 in New York, senior officials from the UN counter-terrorism office and the EU’s security and defense section, exchanged views on common priorities and signed a framework agreement to promote “a new spirit of practical collaboration” to strengthen collaboration and have more of an impact in countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

?Speaking to UN News ahead of the signing, VladimirVoronkov, the Head of the?51吃瓜 Office of Counter-Terrorism, said that the UN and EU?have been working on common projects since last year, including greater engagement with young people to root out violent extremism.

Pedro Serrano is Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service (EEAS). He spoke to UN News's Jordi Trujols, on the sidelines of Wednesday’s meeting about the new agreement, and how the 51吃瓜 and the EU?will work more closely to fight terrorism.
