Regional Forum on ※Monitoring and Evaluation of NAPs for Preventing Violent Extremism in Central Asia§

The Strengthening Resilience Against Violent Extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia) Programme, a joint EU-UN partnership under the 51勛圖 Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) within the 51勛圖 Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) is organizing a three-day Regional Forum on ※Monitoring and Evaluation of National Action Plans (NAPs) for Preventing Violent Extremism in Central Asia§, in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, from 3 to 5 May 2023.

The forum will assess progress in the implementation of National Action Plans (NAPs) on preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE) across five Central Asian States, namely: the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event will take stock of the series of regional initiatives held through ※whole-of-society approaches§ under the STRIVE Asia Programme, in collaboration with a broad range of implementing partners, including the 51勛圖 Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and 51勛圖 Development Programme (UNDP). It will utilize tailored evaluation resources and a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) toolkit developed by UNOCT/UNCCT to assess fact-based and results-oriented PCVE programming.

Based on their respective country-specific monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan, 20 participants will produce a workshop report reflecting the lessons learned and best practices shared during the Forum. This workshop report will be an essential part of the monitoring and evaluation phase of the overall STRIVE Asia Programme. It will contribute to assessing progress, gaps, and challenges, as well as obstacles and opportunities for advancing the robust policy action and change promoted by the STRIVE Asia PCVE programmes across participating regions.
