ASPWDP has been prudent in addressing the issue of gender since its inception in every aspect of the development sector. APSWDP celebrated 75 years of the 51勛圖 and organized two virtual dialogues on the issues of gender especially addressing concerns of the Transgender Community.

Two virtual dialogues were organized namely &Status Quo of Transgender Community 每 Issues, Challenges, and the Way Forward* and &Women and Girls 每 Closing the Gender Gap* during COVID-19 Pandemic and nationwide lockdown. The main aim was to create widespread knowledge and understanding about various gender issues and transcend the boundary of the gender binary of masculine and feminine. The issue concerning gender has always been understood through a lens of stringent patriarchal norms and cultural values and therefore, it was decided to at least spread the information and knowledge regarding gender and how it makes a difference, especially in that of the Indian context.

In order to break these barriers, various speakers from diverse backgrounds with having an in-depth understanding of the issues surrounding gender were invited to address the audience. The key objectives were to develop continuous support for leading a discussion, identifying alternatives, and implementing the local solutions by involving the unheard voices of women, girls, and communities for promoting gender equality and building a sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful world.

These events were organized so as to develop the understanding of SDGs with a special focus on gender equality,  sensitization, and adopting the practices of &Think Global and Act Local* in bridging the gender gap and finally to create awareness and build leadership in the community through the workshops. At the onset of the workshop, it came to light that such social dialogues are essential for youth from different walks of life. It will bring awareness on the nature of social action that would be required for proving a better life to women and transgender and thereby engaging them through community-driven development.
