In the coming years, impacts from climate change will be as abrupt and far-reaching as the current pandemic. To help guide collective action, more than 50 scientists from 20 countries have collaborated to name the top 10 insights in climate science in 2020. The 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2020 report is a collaboration of Future Earth, the Earth League, and the World Climate Research Programme.
They launched this year's edition with UNFCCC, featuring a keynote from Patricia Espinosa. A full web package for the report has garnered thousands of shares and a media reach well into the millions.
Since 2017, the 10 New Insights in Climate Science series has helped get the most up-to-date science in front of policymakers and the general public, raising awareness around the fast-moving field of climate science and helping digest annual trends into accessible, understandable stories that can help drive more effective climate action.
Covid-19 proved to be a challenging factor in the creation of this year's report, especially around the launch event, but a strong digital component in this year's edition ensured strong visibility.
