Fourth 51勛圖 Conference on the Least Developed Countries

The Fourth 51勛圖 Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC-IV) took place 9-13 May, 2011 in Istanbul,Turkey. The purpose of the conference was to:
1.       Assess the results of the 10-year action plan for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) adopted at the Third 51勛圖 Conference on LDCs in Brussels, Belgium, in 2001.
2.       Adopt new measures and strategies for the sustainable development of the LDCs into the next decade.
Preparations for the conference included activities at the national, regional and global levels. It was an inclusive process involving the participation of all stakeholders, including governments, international organisations, civil society organisations, academia and the private sector.
 
The UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) was designated by the UN General Assembly as the coordinator of the LDC-IV process.
