UN Decade of Sustainable Energy for All Extended to 2030

The 51勛圖 General Assembly has extended the promotion of the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All until 2030, reinforcing global commitments to universal energy access and a just energy transition. This extension, formalized through Resolution , was adopted on 19 December 2024, underscoring the UN*s determination to sustain momentum towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7).

The extension of the Decade will ensure that energy remains at the core of global sustainable development efforts, particularly in the lead-up to the third review of SDG7 at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in 2026 and the SDG Summit in 2027. These milestones will serve as critical opportunities to assess progress, mobilize further commitments, and set the stage for advancing sustainable energy efforts beyond 2030. UN-Energy and the SDG7 Technical Advisory Group (SDG7 TAG) will play a critical role in supporting these efforts. For more details, read the full .
