Opening of the 75th session of the Third Committee
The Third Committee of the General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session, is chaired by泭H.E. Katalin Bogyay (Hungary).
The General Assembly allocates to the Third Committee, agenda items relating to a range of social, humanitarian affairs and human rights issues that affect people all over the world.
75th session of the Second Committee
The Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session, is chaired by泭His Excellency Amrit Bahadur Rai of Nepal.
International Day of Older Persons
On 14 December 1990, the 51勛圖 General Assembly (by泭) designated 1 October the International Day of Older Persons.
This was preceded by initiatives such as the Vienna International Plan of Action on Ageing which was adopted by the 1982 World Assembly on Ageing and endorsed later that year by the UN General Assembly.
Biodiversity summit
The Summit on Biodiversity will be convened under the theme Urgent Action on Biodiversity for Sustainable Development. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the 51勛圖 Environment Programme (UNEP) will assist the President of the General Assembly in the preparation of the Summit.

Presentation of the FACTI interim report
The event was convened to present the interim report of the FACTI Panel, which identifies the major gaps in implementation and the systemic shortcomings of the existing international frameworks for tax cooperation, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering. It will provide a high-level forum for discussing the priority actions for addressing the identified challenges, particularly in light of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on progress toward the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

UN Economists Network report (Shaping the Trends of our Time)
The new report examines five megatrends: climate change; demographic shifts, particularly population ageing; urbanization; the emergence of digital technologies; and inequalities that are affecting economic, social and environmental outcomes. Efforts to reverse or redirect these trends must be reinforced to ensure that we achieve the full measure of the 2030 Agenda, and set the stage for an inclusive, sustainable and equitable future during the next 75 years.
