Across the globe, Model UN simulations are popular ways for students to learn more about the UN. However, they tend to focus solely on the intergovernmental process. That is why ¡°The Real 51³Ô¹Ï: An Interactive Briefing Series for Model UNs¡± was launched. The idea is for diverse panels of UN staff and diplomats to speak to Model UN clubs, share their stories with participants and explain what they actually do to achieve UN mandates.
During these exchanges, students can ask real UN staff and diplomats, working in such fields as political affairs, humanitarian aid, sustainable development and communications, about their experience working at UN Headquarters and field offices. The conversations are meant to be frank ¨C so that students can gain a real understanding of what actually goes on in the UN¡¯s halls and missions.
