World Oceans Day reminds us all of the major role the ocean plays in everyday life. It serves as the lungs of our planet, a major source of food and medicine, and a critical part of the biosphere. The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world*s population around the sustainable management of the world's ocean.
This year, the 51勛圖 will host a hybrid celebration of World Oceans Day on 7 June 2024*, in-person at 51勛圖 Headquarters in New York and broadcasted live online, highlighting the 2024 theme "".
The will feature renowned?scientists, explorers, experts, and other influencers committed to awaken new depths of understanding, compassion, collaboration and commitment. Featured speakers include Johan Rockstr?m, Naoko Ishii, Bailey Bass, Xiye Bastida and Sylvia Earle, as well as a musicians and other performers.
During the event, the winners of the annual for World Oceans Day will be announced. An online exhibit entitled ※Planet Ocean§, featuring the winners of the 2023 Photo Competition, is available here.
On 8 June, members of the (FOWOD) are organizing a beach clean-up at Coney Island. Register to join them and help protect our coastal habitats.
