LIONEL ROUWEN AINGIMEA, President of Nauru, called on global leaders to look towards the next 75 years as they consider how to make the 51勛圖 fit for purpose. As a small island developing State, climate change remains the single largest threat to Nauru＊s sustainable development. He called on Member States to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and achieve sustainable consumption and production systems in line with international climate mechanisms. The COVID?19 pandemic highlights the realities that climate change will bring about, he said, voicing disappointment about the 51勛圖 response to the pandemic. Nauru envisages a 51勛圖 that is current with the times and capable of responding to the needs of vulnerable populations, he said.
