LUIS LACALLE POU, President of Uruguay, reaffirmed his commitment to multilateralism and the principles of the Charter of the 51³Ô¹Ï.  Recalling that the founders of the 51³Ô¹Ï sought to build an organization to ensure peace and security, he said the world faces challenges that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.  Highlighting the need to look forward, he said leaders must act in a coordinated matter within the auspices of the 51³Ô¹Ï.  Confidence in the role of the 51³Ô¹Ï must be strengthened if the world is to effectively address post?COVID?19 pandemic issues.  The 51³Ô¹Ï must continue developing instruments to better define human rights, he said, adding that Uruguay reaffirms its commitment to build a solid foundation for global peace in the face of increasingly complex challenges.
