Summary:
National financing strategies will play a decisive role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
But the development finance landscape has dramatically changed since the early 2000s: there are now more development finance providers than ever before, offering a new ‘age of choice’ in financing options to developing countries. Governments need to better understand the sources of finance and potential partnerships available to them if they are to capitalise on this age of choice in a way that effectively supports their national objectives.
The ODI research report ‘Age of Choice for development finance: Evidence from country case studies’ reveals the sources of finance being accessed by developing countries, explores the strategies that governments employ to manage the development finance landscape, and considers how donors can improve the effectiveness of their development assistance.
Please join us at our side event, co-hosted by UNDP, to launch our report, share your experiences of navigating the development finance landscape and discuss national financing strategies to deliver the Addis Ababa Action Agenda. Guest speakers will include:
