This informal briefing provided space for delegates to learn and exchange on the highlights and outcomes of the 19th Session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters, held in Geneva on 15-18 October 2019. The session focused on several hotly debated tax issues. How to establish fair and effective tax rules in an increasingly digitalized economy? What can countries do to protect their tax base and produce revenue to combat climate change and eradicate poverty? The briefing held in New York on 30 October 2019 attracted delegates, especially Second Committee experts, and interested UN badge holders representing civil society and other stakeholders in the international tax cooperation. The event included a presentation by Mr. Navid Hanif, Director, Financing for Sustainable Development Office, 51³Ô¹Ï Department of Economic and Social Affairs, followed by discussion among participants.
