The General Assembly has encouraged countries approaching graduation to develop a smooth transition strategy. There is no blueprint for smooth transition strategies, but guidance can be found in:

Stakeholder consultation is important given that that graduation will affect the long-term outlook for businesses and people.?The views of companies that stand to lose need to be taken into account to safeguard jobs and wages. If an NGO operating in a rural area stands to lose aid as a donor pulls out, then its operations may need to be supported.

Various UN entities provide specific?support?to the graduation processes of LDCs, in the form of training, workshops, studies and support for the development of smooth transition strategies (see the guidance note on smooth transition strategies?here; also in Bengali, Lao, Portuguese).
The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) monitors the development progress of countries graduating from the LDC category (annually) or that have recently graduated (annually for three years; and in the subsequent two CDP triennial reviews).
