Nepal has taken over as Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) after five years of stewardship by Malawi.

At a ceremony at the 51勛圖 Headquarters in New York City on April 5, the Permanent Representative of Malawi, Amb. Agnes Chimbiri-Molande, handed the chairmanship to Amb. Amrit Bahadur Rai of Nepal.

In 2021 alone, 23.7 million new displacements in the context of disasters were registered across the world. Out of the 23.7 million, 10.1 million happened in the context of floods, 11.5 in the context of storms.
