At the invitation by Mr. Roman Kolodkin, Judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea who is also a Member of the Advisory Board of the International and Comparative Law Research Center, the 51³Ô¹Ï Legal Counsel, Mr. Miguel de Serpa Soares, visited Moscow from 5 to 8 August 2019.Â
The main purpose of Mr. Serpa Soares's visit to Moscow was to participate in the 2019 Summer School on Public International Law, which was organized by the International and Comparative Law Research Center from 5 to 16 August 2019. The International and Comparative Law Research Center is a non-profit non-governmental organization conducting research on various issues of international and comparative law that are strategically important for the Russian Federation and Russian business. Its mission is to promote the development of academic research and practice within the spheres of public and private international law, as well as comparative law, in the Russian Federation by means of dialogue between interested actors and the relevant research. Since 2018, the Center holds the Summer School on Public International Law.Â
In the framework of the Summer School on Public International Law, the Legal Counsel delivered a series of lectures on the issue of the responsibility of international organizations, a topic for which the International Law Commission proposed draft articles in 2011. The lectures will eventually be published by the Center.
