Summary

The Summit of the Future presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance global governance by forging a new international consensus on the global challenges facing current and future generations. Its outcome document is the Pact for the Future, negotiated by Member States and adopted during the Summit from 22 to 23 September. The Pact addresses Africa*s wide-ranging pressing needs and aspirations, including international peace and security, sustainable development and financing, youth and future generations, science, technology innovation, the global digital compact, and global governance.

The continent*s leaders and policymakers must stay abreast of what the Pact for the Future means for Africa*s efforts to address security and development challenges and how its key commitments can be implemented. The UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) and the are hosting a seminar to discuss what the Pact for the Future means for Africa.
