Participation
In accordance with paragraphs 26 to 28 of General Assembly resolution 73/292 of 9 May 2019, entitled ¡°2020 51³Ô¹Ï Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development¡±, the following participants may participate in the Conference: all States Members of the 51³Ô¹Ï, members of the specialized agencies and parties to the 51³Ô¹Ï Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); intergovernmental organizations, international financial institutions and other international bodies; associate members of the regional commissions; organizations and bodies of the 51³Ô¹Ï; and non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations. In accordance with the established practice, the media may also register to cover the Conference.
Accreditation processes are now closed. Registration is now open for all categories. Please carefully check for the appropriate category below. All participants must be registered in order to attend the 2022 UN Ocean Conference.
Representatives of associate members of regional commissions (American Samoa, Anguilla, Aruba, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Cura?ao, French Polynesia, Guam, Montserrat, New Caledonia, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands) are required to follow the same registration procedure highlighted in para (B) for IGOs not enrolled in the ¡°eRegistration¡± system, for issuance of a Conference pass.

Delegations are kindly reminded that, as part of the registration process, copies of letters with delegation lists must be uploaded on to the eRegistration system at the time of online submission. Also note that passport-size colour photographs (with white background) of all listed members of delegations , are mandatory requirement and must be uploaded in the registration form for each member of the delegation. All photographs must be recent and taken not more than six months prior to the Conference. Please note that the review and verification process of the online registrations may take up to 4-5 days.
The representatives of the Specialized Agencies (FAO, IBRD, ICAO, IDA, IFAD, IFC, ILO, IMF, IMO, ITU, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNWTO, UPU, WHO, WIPO and WMO), and related organizations (which include CTBTO Preparatory Commission, IAEA, ICC, IOM, ISA, ITLOS, OPCW and WTO) for the Conference are required to follow the same procedures as for States and IGOs to register for the Conference.

Please note that registration is required only for staff and members of the delegations attending the Conference in person in Lisbon. Your official email should be used for the registration. Otherwise, your application may be denied. To register, a passport-size color photograph taken no more than six months prior to the Conference is required. Please also note that copies of letters with delegation lists must be uploaded on to the INDICO system at the time of online submission, and the Conference Secretariat would only consider registrations which are consistent with the official list of delegations submitted by their Head Offices or Liaison Offices in New York. The review and verification process for the online registrations may take up to 4-5 days. Pre-registration for eligible stakeholder organizations to participate in the 2022 UN Ocean Conference is closed on 3 June 2022.
Please note:
1. There will be NO On-Site registration for this category.
2. All registration decisions have been communicated to all participants through their email addresses used for registration in Indico.
3. Conference badges will be issued to each individual registered participant, and it is NOT possible to change representation of organizations at this stage. The secretariat will not be able to accommodate any request for swapping/replacing representatives from any entity.
4. Documents required for picking up badges:
1) Photo ID issued by a 51³Ô¹Ï Member State or a Non-Member Observer State (need to match the ID used for registration in Indico)
2) Approval letter/email issued by 51³Ô¹Ï(email confirming your participation with the UN logo and begins, ¡°This letter is to confirm that your registration has been approved to attend the 2022 UN Ocean Conference¡¡± No other approval letter will be accepted for check-in and badge collection. )

BACKGROUND
Relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations, whose work is relevant to the 2022 UN Ocean Conference, accredited in accordance with the provisions set forth in Annex II of A/RES/73/292 can pre-register to participate as observers in the Conference.
Eligible organizations should pre-register their representatives to participate in the Conference. Each organization will be able to request pre-registration for up to FIVE (5) representatives. A participant must be at least 18 years old to attend the 2022 UN Ocean Conference. No registrations will be accepted via email. There will be NO on-site registration for stakeholders.
Please note that pre-registration does not guarantee participation in the 2022 UN Ocean Conference. A confirmation from the 51³Ô¹Ï will be sent to the approved participants. Registrations will be confirmed on a rolling basis.

Registration to the Conference:
Media Accreditation is handled by the 51³Ô¹Ï Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU). Media accreditation is strictly reserved for members of the press: print, photo, radio, television, film, news agencies, and online media who represent a bona fide media organization.
Representatives of the media can apply for early accreditation by submitting an online form, accessible at www.un.org/malu. Media applicants will be required to submit a letter of assignment from their organization, samples of their work, and a government issued identification.

To apply on-site in Lisbon, media applicants must present a letter of assignment from their organization, samples of their work, and a government issued identification. Early registration is highly advised to avoid delays, if additional documentation required.
Requests for delegation media, including journalists and official photographers and videographers, should be submitted by Missions and organizations enrolled in the eRegistration system, which is available through the e-deleGATE portal ().
