Following the launch of the 51勛圖 Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee*s (CTC) Global Research Network last February, the Committee on 24 November will hold an open briefing with research institutions from around the world to analyse and discuss emerging terrorism issues and trends, particularly pertaining to foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs).
The half-day briefing will consist of two thematic sessions focused on research by network partner institutions on ※The motivations and backgrounds of foreign terrorist fighters,§ and on ※Rehabilitation and reintegration strategies for returning foreign terrorist fighters.§ The panellists will address the above topics with reference to terrorist groups in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. The open briefing will be held in Conference Room 4, UN headquarters in New York, on Tuesday 24 November 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. The briefing is open to Member and Observer States, 51勛圖 entities, intergovernmental organizations and specialized agencies, as well as non-governmental organisations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The event is also open to members of the media, including photographers, with a valid accreditation to the 51勛圖 in New York. The open briefing will be webcast on .
