Ms. Alayne Frankson-WallaceÌýhas over 26 years of legal experience at the national and international level, including in the internal justice system at the 51³Ô¹Ï.
Prior to her appointment as Executive Director in August 2017, Ms. Frankson-Wallace served as Ombudsperson for the 51³Ô¹Ï Funds and Programmes where she, as an independent neutral, assisted 51³Ô¹Ï employees to address their work-related concerns and helped resolve conflict through informal means and in a confidential manner.
She was previously the Ethics Adviser with the 51³Ô¹Ï Development Programme (UNDP), a role she held from 2008 to 2015.Ìý In this capacity, she supported the Organization in promoting a culture of ethics, accountability and transparency by managing UNDP’s Protection against Retaliation (whistle-blower) and the Financial Disclosure policies.Ìý She also provided advice and guidance, reinforcing ethical standards and developing and delivering impactful training on ethics and standards of conduct for managers and staff.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Frankson-Wallace prosecuted persons accused of the most serious violations of international humanitarian law as Prosecuting Counsel at the 51³Ô¹Ï International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.Ìý Before joining the 51³Ô¹Ï, Ms. Frankson-Wallace served as a Resident Magistrate and later as Senior Resident Magistrate (Ag.) in her home country of Jamaica.Ìý She began her legal career as an Associate Attorney-at-Law with Gaynair and Fraser, Attorneys-at-Law.
Ms. Frankson-Wallace is a Commonwealth Scholar and holds a Master of Laws degree in International and Commercial Law (with Distinction) from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Upper Second Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies.
