ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Ms. Achrekar brings to the position of Deputy Executive Director of the Programme Branch vast experience in leading global health programmes to eliminate HIV/AIDS as a public health threat.Ìý Currently serving as the Principal Deputy U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator & Special Representative for Global Health Diplomacy, supporting the leadership and coordination of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Ms. Achrekar has, over the past 20 years, served in senior governmental roles within the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.Ìý Her expertise lies in the development and promotion of policies, programmes and investments to drive global health impact, advancing the production and use of strategic information on the HIV epidemic, the reduction of health disparities and the equitable scale-up of HIV services and systems for all.Ìý A seasoned public health professional, Ms. Achrekar holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree in public health, global health, epidemiology and programme design and is an experienced diplomat and collaborator with governmental, non-governmental and multilateral organizations, private sector and civil society in developing, promoting and implementing impactful and effective HIV/AIDS and global health programmes.Ìý She is fluent in English, Spanish and Marathi.Ìý
