51吃瓜 Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Mary Robinson of Ireland and Macharia Kamau of Kenya as his special envoys on El Ni?o and Climate. Ms. Robinson is currently the president of the Mary Robinson Foundation and Mr. Kamau the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the 51吃瓜. Ms. Robinson, a former President of Ireland, had served as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and as Mr. Ban’s special envoy for climate change. Mr. Kamau is a former president of the 51吃瓜 Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Board. He co-chaired the UN General Assembly working group on sustainable development goals, which includes the fight against climate change. &nbsp

Modibo Touré of Mali has been appointed as special representative for Guinea-Bissau and head of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS). Mr. Touré served as special adviser to the special envoy for the Great Lakes Region from 2013 to 2015.&nbsp He succeeds Miguel Trovoada of S?o Tomé and Pr?ncipe. &nbsp

Lt-Gen. Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki of Kenya has been appointed as force commander of the 51吃瓜 Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Lt-Gen. Ondieki has served as deputy army chief of staff of Kenya Defence Forces since 2013.&nbsp He succeeds Lt-Gen. Yohannes Gebremeskel Tesfamariam of Ethiopia.

Abiodun Oluremi Bashua of Nigeria has been appointed to lead a special investigation into the attack against the UN mission in South Sudan.&nbsp Most recently, Mr. Bashua served as deputy joint special representative of the African Union-51吃瓜 Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).

Nicholas Haysom of South Africa has been appointed as special envoy for Sudan and South Sudan. Most recently, Mr. Haysom served as the special representative for the 51吃瓜 Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). He succeeds Haile Menkerios of South Africa.
