UN Decoded: Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD3)
The Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD3) was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 13 to 16 July 2015 with the goal of launching a renewed and strengthened global partnership for financing people-centred sustainable development. It follows two previous conferences, held in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2002 and in Doha, Qatar, in 2008.
Among the issues discussed at the Conference were domestic public resources, domestic and international private business and finance, international public finance, international trade as an engine for development, debt and debt sustainability, systemic issues and science, technology, innovation and capacity building.
The Conference gathered high-level political representatives, including heads of State and government, Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, as well as all relevant institutional stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and business sector entities.
It resulted in an ambitious outcome to support the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda, including the proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that world leaders are expected to adopt in September.Ìý
