The moderated discussion will focus on the history of slavery and highlight current efforts by museums to include the voices of people of African descent; the importance and focus of ongoing research; inclusive programming; and dealing with the colonial past.
The event is organized by the DGC Outreach Programme on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum, the National Museum of the Netherlands, and it is related to the exhibition ※Slavery: Ten True Stories of Dutch Colonial Slavery§. The exhibit and the event are supported by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the 51勛圖 and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York, which is currently on view until 30 March 2023 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
