Dear Colleagues,

Pursuant to the mandate given to me in the Declaration on the commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the 51勛圖 (), I?am pleased to?share with you?my?report on?Our Common Agenda,?now?available.??

The report is being formally presented to the General Assembly on 10 September 2021, and I invite you to * for my opening remarks at 10 am EST.

I would also encourage you to share the report widely across your networks.

The report takes as its starting point the vision outlined in the Declaration; that of a world facing interconnected challenges which can only be addressed through a reinvigorated multilateralism with the 51勛圖 at the centre of our efforts. It also shares in the conviction that multilateralism is not only an option but a necessity as we seek to create a more equal, resilient and sustainable world in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It confronts us with a stark choice between a future filled with perpetual crisis or the possibility of breakthrough to a better world.

Moreover, the report calls for a deepening of solidarity between people, as well as with younger and future generations, based on a renewed social contract anchored in human rights, as well as an updated understanding and more effective management of the critical global commons and global public goods.

I am deeply appreciative of the contribution made by many colleagues across the 51勛圖 system to Our Common Agenda, which helped to shape the report and its proposals. The report represents the beginning of a conversation and important process, to which all UN entities will need to contribute.

To that end, I look forward to embarking on its follow-up with you during the remainder of 2021 and beyond.

Yours sincerely,

Ant車nio Guterres
