Commercial insurance is critical to?51³Ô¹Ï operations and risk management activities. The Commercial Insurance Section in the Department of Operational Support (DOS) recently hosted the?annual meeting of?International Financial Institutions?at 51³Ô¹Ï Headquarters in New York.?
Participants from major development banks and the UN were welcomed by?Atul Khare,?Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support,?and Patrick Carey, Director of the Division of Administration.
¡°Commercial insurance has had, and continues to have, a major impact on the Organization and its operations, particularly as it relates to catastrophic events and major emergencies," said Mr. Carey.
"Events such as the?International Financial Institutions meeting?are crucial for networking, collaborating and building connections within the international risk management community.¡±
Over three days,?colleagues and external partners presented on The Global Risks Report, insurance market conditions and emerging challenges, climate change, cyber insurance, risk optimization, self-insurance and captives, insured-insurer relationships, and worker?compensation.?
Participants held the annual round table where each institution¡¯s?challenges and approaches to risk management were discussed in the open forum.? Participants also had optional events after work hours, including a business seminar on parametric risk and a trip to CitiField for the Subway Series.
