On 30 May, the 51³Ô¹Ï Postal Administration (UNPA) commemorates the?150th?Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union with the issuance of three new stamp sheets.

The Universal Postal Union (UNU) is a 51³Ô¹Ï specialized agency with its headquarters in the Swiss capital, Berne.

Founded in 1874, the UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players and helps ensure a truly universal network of modern postal products and services.

Connecting 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union enables the free circulation of postal items across a single, interconnected postal territory.

By setting standards, harmonizing policies, promoting innovation, and building capacities of postal operators, the UPU ensures efficiency and reliability of postal exchanges and facilitates the provision of inclusive and accessible communication and social services to communities worldwide.

The theme ¨C ¡°150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations¡± ¨C recognizes this accomplishment and reinforces the Universal Postal Union commitment to serve all peoples for the centuries to come.

To celebrate this milestone, the UN Postal Administration is issuing three sheets of nine stamps each.?The stamps are illustrated by Sergio Baradat (51³Ô¹Ï) and feature the following:

  • 68? - A dove carrying a letter

  • CHF 1,20 ¨C A postal worker delivering mail

  • € 0,95 ¨C A plane carrying airmail
