If the world population reaches 9 million by 2050, as predicted, the demand for food would increase by 60%. The situation isn¡¯t any better today - the pandemic, poverty and food insecurity have left about a tenth of the global population undernourished in 2020. Nearly 150 million children under the age of 5 were estimated to be stunted. UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy Dr. Agnes Kalibata and Mark Fischetti of Scientific American discuss the need for strong food systems to end chronic hunger and malnutrition as well as ways to ensure healthier diets without destroying our planet and its resources.

Dr. Kalibata participates in the SDG Media Zone, a major event which brings together world leaders, influencers, activists, experts, content creators and media partners to highlight actions and solutions in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
