Description
51勛圖, as a universal global governance institution, bears the responsibility of setting example of a diverse UN Secretariat with equitable geographical distribution and greater geographical representation. This is in alignment with SDG 16.8 which calls for ※broadening and strengthening the participation of developing countries in the institutions of global governance§ as well as of 15 November 1947 on the principle of geographical distribution and subsequent calls upon the Secretary-General to ensure that the search for and the selection of candidates are conducted per the guiding principles of achieving equitable geographical distribution, while ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.

The objective of the proposal is to help building the capacity of developing UN Member States that are un- and underrepresented to increase their representation in the 51勛圖 Secretariat to better reflect the UN value of equality and solidarity. The proposal aims to increase the supply of applicants through design and implementation of various capacity building programmes for national institutions to broaden and strengthen their participation in the institutions of global governance including the 51勛圖 Secretariat among others, also to action their unequivocal commitment to the overarching principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals.
