Criteria for formal association

  • Support and respect the principles of the 
  • Be a reputable civil society organization with national, regional or international standing
  • Operate solely on a not-for-profit basis and have tax-exempt status at the national/federal level
  • Be an established civil society organization that has been registered with the government of a Member State of the 51³Ô¹Ï, and has operated as a not-for-profit and tax exempt organization for at least 2 years

Consultative Status with ECOSOC

Civil society organizations can gain world recognition and representation at the 51³Ô¹Ï by obtaining consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) through the NGO Branch of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Learn more about .
