Stakeholders

In accordance with General Assembly resolution , the SDG Summit brought opportunities for the participation of representatives from major groups, other relevant stakeholders and entities having received a standing invitation to participate as observers in the General Assembly, building on arrangements and practices observed by the Commission on Sustainable Development, including Economic and Social Council decision 1993/215 of 12 February 1993 and Council resolution 1996/31 of 25 July 1996, which shall be applicable to the forum.

The 51³Ô¹Ï Secretariat organized a variety of opportunities for multi-stakeholder engagement to facilitate the meaningful participation of stakeholders in the Summit, including its preparatory process.

Briefings and Webinars

On 7 June 2023, UN DESA, in partnership with the SDG Action Campaign, hosted a virtual informal Stakeholder Dialogue as an opportunity for civil society organizations, networks, major groups and other stakeholders to provide inputs to the . The Dialogue featured welcoming remarks from the co-facilitators of the intergovernmental process, H.E. Mr. Fergal Mythen of Ireland and H.E. Ms. Alya Ahmed bin Saif-Al Thani of Qatar, as well as 14 stakeholders interventions. A visual scribe illustrated the key elements of the discussion. Over 1,600 people from 140 countries registered for the event and more than 800 participated in the Zoom webinar. The session was also livestreamed on Facebook.
