The majority of Ethiopian exporters and importers face a number of challenges associated with conformity assessments and clearance formalities, such as delays, lack of specific facilities and administrative burdens. Based on 231 interviews, this new ITC report recommends enhancing Ethiopia¡¯s quality-related infrastructure and capacity, improving production techniques, simplifying procedures and disseminating relevant information. It also suggests integrating the business perspective in domestic procedures, and ensuring competitive services to the export sector.
