The Government of Nepal (GoN) is in the process of formulating a transition strategy to ensure graduation is smooth, sustainable and irreversible. Sustainability and irreversibility have acquired increased salience in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has severely and adversely affected socioeconomic outcomes. This study investigates the implications of graduation for Nepal in the areas of market access, development cooperation, and trade-related policy space, and offers recommendations in these areas for the government to consider when formulating a transition strategy.
