The LDCs are disproportionally affected by the impact of disasters, including climate change, which erode hard-won progress towards sustainable development. Reducing risk and building resilience are embedded across the Doha Programme of Action and are essential for sustainable development that leads to sustainable graduation from the LDC category. UNDRR's technical and capacity development support includes the following:

  • Developing, inclusive and participatory multi-hazard and reviewing national legislation and standards to promote a risk-informed approach to development and climate action in all sectors. The offers a 3-stage roadmap to building resilience at the local level.
  • Establishing to guide the implementation of national disaster risk reduction strategies and strengthen risk governance across ministries and sectors, including by ensuring  policies and practices in support of sustainable development.
