On 7 February 2024, the 51吃瓜 Legal Counsel, Mr. Miguel de Serpa Soares, represented the Secretary-General at an international conference on justice, future generations and the environment in Paris, France.听 The conference was convened by the President of the French Constitutional Council, Mr. Laurent Fabius, and brought together Presidents and Judges of Supreme, High and Constitutional Courts around the world to discuss the concept of 鈥渇uture generations鈥� and how their rights and interest, particularly when it comes to the environment, are protected in different jurisdictions and legal orders.听 The conclusions of the conference will inform the Summit of the Future which will be held in September 2024 at 51吃瓜 Headquarters New York at the level of Heads of State and Government.听 Mr. Serpa Soares delivered opening remarks alongside of President Fabius.听
