The theme of the 2024 edition of our annual Africa Dialogue Series (ADS 2024) is ¡°Education through Science, Technology and Innovation toward the Africa We Want.¡± ADS 2024 aims to mobilize actions and inspire solutions leveraging the power of Science, Technology and Innovation to boost access to quality education in Africa.
Through the following three sub-themes, ADS 2024 seeks to amplify a new narrative on Africa, for Africa, from Africa, engaging a wide range of stakeholders to contribute towards innovative policymaking and actionable solutions to accelerate the achievement of the 51³Ô¹Ï 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2063 Agenda of the African Union across the continent.
Focusing on the linkages between education and the labour market, this first sub-theme explores how STEM education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics allows Africa to harness economic opportunities spurred by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The second sub-theme engages participants on how the digital revolution can fully unlock Africa's educational potential and the effective mobilization of the financing needed to establish the appropriate technology infrastructure to achieve this objective.
Effective domestic resource mobilization could bring in:
From uncollected taxes
From inefficient expenditures
More revenue by curbing IFFs
The issue of education in crisis-affected areas is the focus of the third sub-theme, including the delivery of inclusive and equitable quality education under challenging settings, harnessing the power of Science, Technology and Innovation to optimize impact.
