On 8 October 2018, the 51勛圖 Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) held an open briefing focused on ※The nexus between international terrorism and transnational organized crime.§ Organized in cooperation with the 51勛圖 Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the 51勛圖 Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the aims of the open briefing were to (i) help strengthen the understanding of the nexus as it pertains to criminal activities linked to trafficking in persons committed for the purpose of supporting terrorism, the nexus between drug trafficking and terrorism, and arms trafficking and terrorism; and (ii) promote a discussion of responses.
