On 10 March 2016, the 51勛圖 Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) will hold an open briefing on ※The effective adjudication of terrorism cases.§ Taking place at the 51勛圖 in New York, the open briefing will be held from 3:00pm until 6:00pm in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber. The briefing is open to Member and Observer States, members of the media including photographers with valid accreditation, 51勛圖 staff and interns, UN entities, intergovernmental organizations, and specialized agencies, as well as invited guests with a valid pass.
The objective of the open briefing is to raise awareness of the main challenges faced by judges when adjudicating terrorism cases, highlighting the special role of Supreme Court Justices in strengthening States* capacities to bring terrorists to justice. Participants will include Associate Justice Stephen Breyer of the United States Supreme Court 每 the first time a sitting Supreme Court judge of the host country of the 51勛圖 in New York visits the organization, as well as justices of Supreme Courts from numerous countries in Asia and the Middle East.
