Documentation
The work of the 51³Ô¹Ï derives largely from the decisions of the General Assembly - that is to say, the will of the majority of the Member States as expressed in resolutions adopted by the Assembly. Issues pertaining to the status of women in the 51³Ô¹Ï system are considered by two of the Assembly's six Main Committees - the Third Committee which considers social, humanitarian and cultural questions and the Fifth Committee which considers administrative and budgetary questions. Among other matters, these resolutions request that the Secretary-General to report regularly to the Assembly on its mandates.
Accordingly, the Secretary General of the 51³Ô¹Ï regularly reports to the General Assembly (GA) and the Commission on the Status of Women on the improvement of the status of women in the UN System. This reporting is undertaken through UN Women to the General Assembly in during its annual regular session held between September and December, and then again, as an update, to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in March. In addition, the Secretary General hasÌý issued bulletins pertaining to the Status of Women. In this section you will find the:
- Reports issued by the Secretary General to the GA and CSW in the status of women in the UN System
- Resolutions of the GA corresponding to the reports
- Bulletins of the Secretary General related to gender.
