UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Mbaranga Gasarabwe of Rwanda as his deputy special representative for UN Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), where she will also serve as UN resident coordinator, humanitarian coordinator and resident representative of UNDP.Ìý Most recently, she served as assistant secretary-general in the Department of Safety and Security at UN Headquarters.Ìý She will succeed David Gressly of the United States.Ìý


Ali H. Al-Za’tari of Jordan has been appointed as the deputy special representative and deputy head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). Mr. Al-Za’tari will also serve as UN resident coordinator, humanitarian coordinator and resident representative of UNDP.Ìý He succeeds Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania who has been appointed as the Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen.


Eugene Owusu of Ghana has been appointed as the deputy special representative of the Secretary-General in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).Ìý He will also serve as the UN resident coordinator, humanitarian coordinator and resident representative of UN Development Programme (UNDP).Ìý Prior to this appointment, Mr. Owusu held similar positions, except that of special representative, with UNDP in Ethiopia. He succeeds Toby Lanzer of the United Kingdom.


Mourad Wahba of Egypt has been appointed as the deputy special representative for the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where he will also serve as UN resident coordinator, humanitarian coordinator and resident representative of UNDP.Ìý Mr. Wahba was the UNDP deputy assistant administrator and deputy regional director for the Regional Bureau for Arab States in New York.Ìý He will succeed Peter de Clercq of The Netherlands.

Ìý
