National reports to UNFF9
Reporting on progress made on the Implementation of the Non-Legally Binding Instrument on all type of Forests (NLBI) and Achievement of the Global Objectives on Forests The Ninth Session (UNFF9, New York, 24 January – 4 February 2010) will assess the overall progress made on the implementation of the Non-Legally Binding Instrument on All Types of Forests (Forest Instrument) and towards the achievement of the four Global Objectives on Forests.
In preparation of the Secretary General’s Report for the Ninth Session, the countries were invited to share the UNFF Secretariat their most recent national information, experiences, and lessons learned on implementing the Forest Instrument and their progress regarding the four objectives.
To facilitate the submission of information, the Secretariat prepared a suggested format and guidelines. The format was based on the main tasks related to monitoring, assessment and reporting provisions in the MYPOW of the forum. It is expected to help shape the design of a comprehensive reporting process for the 2015 review of the international arrangement on forest, as mandated by Forum resolution 7/1. The countries’ input is invaluable regarding the Report and aids to generate awareness concerning the forest communities’ progress in implementing the Forest Instrument, while identifying where further work is needed.
