The Financing for Development Office (FfDO) of UN-DESA organized, in cooperation with the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), a 5-day UN Course on Transfer Pricing with the participation of representatives from developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This course provided an introduction to transfer pricing principles and methodologies and dealt with the main practical issues faced by developing countries in applying these principles and methodologies. Topics covered included: the business framework and legal environment; the arm’s length principle; comparability analysis; transfer pricing methods; documentation; audits and risk assessment; dispute avoidance and resolution; and established transfer pricing capability in developing countries. The course comprised several examples and a comprehensive case study to enable participants to gain confidence in applying the skills acquired.
